For the Stanford University campus newspaper we constructed a new two-story building built in the center of campus over an old parking lot.
Access was only available via a narrow road used by students, service vehicles and vendor trucks.
Challenges included locating and moving uncharted utilities including formerly used Lake Water and abandoned electrical conduit.
An intricate structural system included a complex web of glulam beams, steel plates and narrow tube steel beams.
Exterior architectural features include plaster, windows and roofing to match adjacent historical buildings.
Interior architectural features include wood doors in storefront frames, carpet tile and wood trim throughout.
Interior scaffolding was constructed throughout to install architectural features at clerestory level.
The result is breathtaking!
